SEEDS OF FURY IN CHINA

SEEDS OF FURY Page 22 TIME, March 13, 2006

Your article,“Seeds of fury” reminds me of Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath which showed us the brutality of capitalism in the thirties against the poor farmers in the capitalist America. Why did Communist China fall victim to such a classic Capitalism’s plot by driving their own farmers into the corner? Market economy under communism seems to have brought to China both the bright side and the dark one. They are not demanding the huge sum of money given by Beijing, but only basic justice to protect their everyday life. Unless the Chinese government tell them the truth and correct their wrongdoings by corrupt burocracy in the rural areas immediately, things would go to the extremes for the worst.
