Power of Japanese Women

Below is my comment on your article of "The WASTED ASSET", Page 34 TIME, August 29, 2005

As theTIME article pointed out, I must admit that Japanese skilled women still have lesser opportunities to get an equal footing with men in the workplace. Especially, many politicians and business executives still seem to make light of gender equality due to the long tradition and culture of “male-dominated” society in Japan.

But I strongly believe that Japanese women will be able to find their new lifestyles as well as new jobs by themselves because they have proved that they are brighter than men in many fields. Another Tomoyo Nonaka or Yuka Tanimoto will appear and penetrate the old tradition of Japan.

Lack of Passion for Space Mission

Below is my comment on the article of "Why NASA Can’t Get It Right" , Page 26 TIME, August 8, 2005

The agonizing flight of Discovery this time clearly indicated the turning point for manned missions conducted by NASA, the only space institution that led a glorious space age in the past several decades.

Then, why NASA can’t get it right? It is not because of the aging space technologies and the lack of space budget, but of the passion by every NASA staff and the American people to change an impossible space mission for a possible one.

The only hope for NASA now is their plain openness to disclose all the data and apologize for their faults in the public.
